One final planning call

On Friday, September 5th Pat, Miereille, Xavier and I had our final planning call.  We have been planning for nearly a year.  With the pilgrimage only three weeks away, this is all becoming more of a reality for us.  This has been a dream of the western region's for many years.  I could feel the excitement as Mireille spoke about the team that is planning our big day together on Saturday, October 4th: L'Arche International Family Day.  This day will include a pilgrimage through the city (quietly, prayerfully announcing L'Arche), liturgy, and a meal together.  We will be celebrating L'Arche's 50th Jubilee in partnership and solidarity with communities around the world.

While we've sorted out some of the details, there is much that remains a mystery.  We must remain open to the spirit in order to receive the gifts that lie ahead through our experiences together with our brothers and sister of El Arca en Queretaro (and Mexico City).  As we continue to prepare for this big adventure in the coming weeks, I am reminded of and inspired by these word shared by Eileen Glass, Vice International Leader of L'Arche International:

We mark a time of Jubilee in order to be strengthened for the journey ahead.  We are a pilgrim people, sharing a journey.  We have a sense of our destination and we are not sure of what lies ahead.  We need each other, not simply in a collective sense but we need each member to contribute her or his gift.  The actions of remembering, of reconciliation, of renewing relationships, of celebrating and giving thanks, enable us to become more aware of our identity and then with renewed hope and energy we can go forward in living our mission.”
